Hi, I'm Rakibul Islam

I studied computer science. Wrote code, took the exams, did the things you're supposed to do. But somewhere between the algorithms and the assignments, I kept getting pulled toward how things looked and felt, not just whether they worked.

I started building interfaces on the side. Tinkering with layouts. Noticing when something felt off and not being able to leave it alone. Eventually I stopped calling it a distraction and started calling it a direction.

Six years later, I work at the intersection of how things are built and how people actually use them. That tension, between what's technically possible and what's genuinely usable, is still the most interesting problem I know.

What Actually I Do

Most of the products I work on are complex, lots of data, lots of moving parts, users who need to make decisions quickly. My job is making sure they never have to stop and figure out what to do next.

I think in systems. When I build a component library or define a design language, it's not for the craft of it, it's because inconsistency slows teams down and confuses users, and both of those things are solvable problems.

I care about what happens after the first click. Onboarding, empty states, error messages, the parts most people design last are usually parts that determine whether someone stays or leaves.

I can run a user interview in the morning and present to a product team in the afternoon. Every decision I make traces back to either a user insight or a business goal, ideally both.

Design Process

Throughout my career, I’ve learned that there is no "one-size-fits-all" UX process. Every project is uniquely challenging, every team has its quirks, and every client brings a different flavor of complexity. My role is to navigate that chaos using a proven toolkit to ship products people actually love.

My approach is simple: I advocate for real humans over just stakeholders. I focus on clear communication, defining the right problems, and synthesizing data into actionable insights. I believe in involving cross-functional teams early, prototyping rapidly in Figma, Sketch or Framer, testing with actual users, and iterating constantly to hit business goals.
